Creating a Supportive World for Individuals with ADHD

Creating a Supportive World for Individuals with ADHD

The Cyprus Association for the Support of Individuals with ADHD is a non-profit organization established to enhance the lives of those affected by ADHD.

The association focuses on children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, as well as their families. It offers support through a counseling center, educational workshops, and various programs aimed at raising awareness and improving access to resources.

Events like the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon are vital for raising funds and awareness, supporting initiatives such as the “Occupational and Protection Center,” which supports children with ADHD.

Can you introduce your charity and provide an overview of its mission and purpose?

The Cyprus Association for the Support of Individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a nationwide, non-profit organization. We’ve been active for years, helping individuals with ADHD and their families. As the only specialized ADHD organization in Cyprus, we aim to raise awareness, offer support, and promote education. Our mission is to help children and adults with ADHD improve their quality of life through early diagnosis, proper treatment, and community understanding.

What inspired the establishment of your charity, and what motivated its founders to address this particular cause?

Our founders, a group of parents, educators, and health professionals, saw a gap in ADHD support services in Cyprus. Many had personal experiences with ADHD and understood the struggles of those affected by it. This inspired them to create a supportive community and advocate for ADHD resources and awareness.

Are there any specific populations or communities that your charity focuses on serving? What led to the decision to prioritize these groups?

We serve children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, as well as their families. We also offer support to educators, employers, and health professionals. ADHD affects people of all ages, and its impact can extend to education, employment, and personal relationships. By supporting these groups, we aim to foster a more inclusive and understanding society.

What is the importance of events like the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon to support your cause?

Events like the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon are vital for raising awareness about ADHD and providing financial support for our initiatives. These events help reduce the stigma around ADHD and engage the public in our mission. Funds raised from the marathon allow us to continue offering educational workshops, support services, and advocacy for better ADHD resources.

Is there any specific case or individual your charity supports through this year’s marathon fundraising campaign?

The funds from this year’s marathon will support the “Occupational and Protection Center,” a space where children with ADHD can engage in structured activities, learn social skills, and receive care. The center aims to foster inclusion and emotional development through small group sessions. Twenty-five children will benefit from these programs, helping them build skills and reduce stigma through positive interactions.
