The 1st International Larnaka Marathon, with great honor and joy, announce that the World Track Champion Pericles Iakovakis will be the first ambassador of the 1st International Marathon of Larnaka.

On behalf of the organizing committee, Mr. Costas Daltas said: “We are very honored that Pericles Iakovakis accepted our invitation to become the first ambassador of the 1st International Marathon of Larnaka. We are very happy to have the World Track Champion on our side, a man with a tremendous knowledge of classic sport, but also with an excellent character.”

On the other hand, Pericles Iakovakis said: “I was delighted to accept the invitation to become the ambassador of the 1st International Marathon of Larnaka, a new event that I am sure will have great growth and success in the following years! The reason I accepted the invitation is the special emotional ties that connect me with Cyprus as, due to its wonderful climate, I have prepared for races many times on the island and I have the best impression both for its beauties and its inhabitants. Also, since I retired racing, I have been trying to encourage my fellow citizens to engage in sports and to put exercise into their everyday lives, as only benefits will come from it, both for physical and mental health. Therefore, I invite you all to take part in this great sporting event and fill the streets of Larnaka on November 19th with a beautiful, colorful human river that will play and be entertained and also send a message for a better life!
