Matthew is determined to complete his first competitive marathon at the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon, part of his ambitious challenge of running 30 marathons in 30 days this November.
He is raising funds for Movember, an organization focused on men’s health issues. By participating in this event, Matthew aims to connect with a global community of runners while raising awareness about mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
Having previously run 240 kilometers across Cyprus in four days, he is passionate about encouraging men to break barriers and seek support for their health.
What initially made you interested in running?
I wanted to complete my first competitive marathon, which is what sparked my interest in running.
Tell us your story, why you run.
I’m running the Larnaka Marathon as part of my “30 marathons in 30 days” challenge throughout November to raise money for Movember. The Larnaka Marathon is an ideal platform to bring global attention to men’s health issues. It adds a personal challenge while connecting me with a supportive community of runners. I hope to inspire others and spread awareness beyond the UK, encouraging donations for research and support programs in men’s mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
Have you ever participated in any races or marathons for a charitable cause? What motivated you to combine running with supporting a cause?
Yes, I’ve taken on multiple challenges, including running 240 kilometers across Cyprus in four days last November. Combining running with charity helps bring meaning to my efforts, motivating me to push harder.
Please give us more details if you are running for a specific cause this year.
Movember is a cause very close to my heart. I’ve seen too many people avoid discussing their mental and physical health until it’s too late. Movember helps break these barriers, supporting men across the world to seek help early. That’s why I’m running—to help raise awareness and funds for this vital cause.
