As a healthcare professional, she’s committed to seeing others thrive and inspiring positive change in her community.

What initially made you interested in running?

Initially, I was interested in running because it was an easy way for me to exercise — it was inexpensive and without any limitations. As someone with musculoskeletal difficulties, I was looking for the right way to exercise that would work for my body. I started with walking to build up my strength, and as I got stronger, I began to run. I remember going to the park and feeling a bit envious of those who could run so effortlessly. One day, I decided to give it a try myself, even though I started slowly. I found that I really enjoyed it and kept going from there.

Tell us your story, why you run.

Running became more than just a form of exercise for me; it was a way to prove to myself that I could overcome my limitations. With my chronic musculoskeletal condition, I knew I needed to find a way to stay active and maintain my health. Running gave me that opportunity. It became a personal journey of self-improvement and empowerment.

Have you ever participated in any races or marathons for a charitable cause? What motivated you to combine running with supporting a cause?

Yes, I have participated in races for charitable causes. I’ve always believed in the power of community and wanted to motivate others with musculoskeletal difficulties like mine to pursue a healthier way of living by introducing exercise into their lives. Being a part of these races allows me to connect with others who are facing similar challenges and show them that it’s possible to live an active, fulfilling life despite these obstacles. I also work in healthcare, so I see firsthand the difference that physical activity can make.

Please give us more details if you are running for a specific cause this year.

Yes, this year I am running for the Cyprus League of People with Rheumatism (CYLPER). I want to raise awareness about musculoskeletal conditions and inspire others to stay active.
