Can you introduce your charity and provide an overview of its mission and purpose?
The Christina A. Apostolou Foundation is a charitable organization with over 2,400 registered supporters. Our primary mission is to offer financial assistance to children and young people suffering from chronic illnesses. We also provide crucial support in their efforts to secure a better future for themselves. Beyond this, we engage in other charitable initiatives to make a broader impact on the community.
What inspired the establishment of your charity, and what motivated its founders to address this particular cause?
The foundation was created in memory of Christina A. Apostolou, who passed away on January 1st, 2006, at the age of 44, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. The foundation wasn’t built solely for Christina, but with Christina’s spirit guiding us. She took us by the hand, and through the foundation, she continues to lead us down challenging yet beautiful paths—paths she walked with ease, joy, and love. These are the paths of kindness, giving, and humanity.
Are there any specific populations or communities that your charity focuses on serving? What led to the decision to prioritize these groups?
Our charity primarily focuses on children and young individuals dealing with chronic health conditions. We also extend help to struggling families across Cyprus, providing them with vital financial support for medical treatments both locally and abroad. We prioritize these groups because they are often the most vulnerable, and they need a strong support system to overcome the many challenges they face. Christina’s personal experience with a long-term illness made this focus a natural and deeply personal choice for the foundation.
What is the importance of events like the Radisson Blu Larnaka International Marathon to support your cause?

They bring attention to the work we do and create opportunities to raise funds for our initiatives. Such events also allow us to connect with the community, inspiring individuals to contribute to our mission of helping children and families in need.
